Well, not to play favorites or anything, my all time favorite author. Winner of the 1951 Nobel Prize for Literature and, in 1940, elected one of the eighteen "Immortals" of the Swedish Academy. He was born in Sweden in 1891 and he has published around 40 books, most of which are very hard to find in english.
Barabbas.
Sheds new (to me anyway) light on the human element behind the story of Christ.
The Dwarf.
I first read this when I was a teenager. The combination of my mother thinking it was disgusting and the `Winner of the Nobel Prize' on the cover made it irresistable. Once again, great insight into human nature and the need to belong.
