| 1) Alert crew: "OVERBOARD!" |
2) Deploy lifesling, overboard pole, throwable devices, and stand by pointing at victim |
3) Helmsperson: note time and heading |
4) Disconnect self steering devices |
5) Begin lifesling rescue:
- Bring vessel head to wind, sheeting in main
- Backwind jib
- Come about and fall off
- Gybe jib and round up
- Continue 'til victim has lifesling around them

6) Douse all sail |
7) Use primary winch to crank victim to vessel and belay |
8) Rig lifeline tackle to main halyard and jib sheet winch |
9) Bring victim aboard |
10) Educate crew:
- Wear a harness
- Wear personal flotation
|
11) When in water:
- Assume help position
- Climb out of water if possible (onto cushions, flotsam, etc.)
|
12) Use relector tape to make oneself distinguishable from surroundings |
